21/What is the standard rate for ashes/ bones storage in Kinmen’s memorial tower?

The standard rate for ashes/ bones storage in Kinmen’s memorial tower is divided according to household registration when the deceased was dead: 
   (1) Basement: 
       Ashes jar storage: If the deceased’s registry was in Kinmen County, the rate is NTD 8,000; if the deceased was from other cities or counties, an extra rate of 50% will be charged, and the rate is NTD 12,000. 
   (2) Above ground: 
  a. Ashes can storage: If the deceased’s registry was in Kinmen County,   the rate would be from NTD 10,000 to 25,000, depending on which layer of cabinet it is placed. An extra rate of 505 will be charged for those coming from other cities or counties, with a rate from NTD 15,000 to 37,500. 
      b. Ashes jar storage: If the deceased’s registry was in Kinmen County,   the rate would be from NTD 20,000 to 32,000, depending on which layer of cabinet it is placed. An extra rate of 50% will be charged for those coming from other cities or counties, with a rate from NTD 30,000 to 48,000. 
      c. Medium-sized ashes jar storage: If the deceased’s registry was in Kinmen County, the rate would NTD 10,000. An extra rate of 50% will be charged for those coming from other cities or counties, with a rate from NTD 15,000. 
   (3) Ancestral tablets: The rate is divided according to the direction of the ancestral tablet, as the front direction is at NTD30,000, with right and left direction at NTD25,000. 

19/Where is the location of the memorial tower?

            It is situated along the roadside of Kinshan Public Cemetery, which is in front of Kinning Branch, Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor, Inc. at right side. The address is No.68, Dongzhou, Banglin, Jinning Township, Kinmen County.

18/How do we apply for a testimonial of relocation of burial?

  1. The applicant takes a copy of the ID Card (with the original for check only), a signet, a cover copy of the account book of any financial institutions and the renewed transcript of the household certificate (of which the deceased’s name was removed) (for those died before 1949, a transcript of household certificate is not necessary), and applies in person at the service center of the Administration. (Additional 4 photos of burial are required too.)

  2. The applicant conducts ashes retrieval with a permit of retrieval, and can apply for locating the ashes in a memorial tower. The applicant shall clear away the disposed coffin or tomb, and send a photo of reburial or compactness of the tomb to the person in charge of our Administration. 

17/How do we apply for permit of burial?

       The applicant shall take a death certificate or testimonial of postmortem examination, the household certificate transcript of the deceased, a copy of the applicant’s ID Card (with an original for check only) and a signet to apply at the service center of the Administration.

  1. If the deceased was a registered resident of the county, the standard rate for a grave site is NTD20,000.

  2. If the deceased was not a registered resident of the county (according to the death certificate), then the standard fee for a grace site is at double rate (NTD40,000).

16/How do family members handle the deceased’s body?

Family members can apply to the Administration for retrieving the body. Regulations are as below:  

(1) The applicant shall take a death certificate or testimonial of postmortem examination and bring any of them at business hours to our administration for body freezing.    

(2) If you cannot get a death certificate or testimonial of postmortem examination during off hours or holidays, it is advised that you follow the ways below: 

a. For those who died in a hospital or at home, immediate family members shall take the applicant’s ID Card and signet to make applications in person or apply via phone before retrieving the body. (The death certificate or testimonial of postmortem examination shall be delivered within another 24 hours.) 

b. For those who died an unnatural death, the applicant shall bring the testimonial of postmortem examination, police report or other verified documents before applying for body retrieval.  

c. For those who died from contagious death, the deceased’s body shall be handled by a medical institution before the family member or an undertaker apply for cremation registration and permit and deliver the body to cremation site. A mourning ritual shall be conducted afterward. The Administration will not provide vehicles for delivery.  

d. Serious accidents or injuries will be handled according to the nature of the case. 

(3) After the body is delivered into the Administration, the family members or an undertaker shall consider the ways of conducting a burial and funeral, such as cremation or traditional burial, choosing a cemetery or memorial tower, deciding on the date of funeral, reserving a hall or crematorium, applying for permit of cremation, and printing an obituary and so forth.
